About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 200,000 karbovantsiv banknote on May 16, 1994. This high-denomination note was introduced to address the country's hyperinflation during the early 1990s. The karbovanets was eventually replaced by the hryvnia on September 2, 1996.
The obverse features the statue of St. Volodymyr holding a cross, located in Kyiv. The reverse depicts the National Opera House of Ukraine, also situated in Kyiv. The banknote measures 126 x 57 mm and includes a watermark of the trident shield, repeated throughout. It was printed on white paper at the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine in Kyiv.
