About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 100,000 karbovantsiv banknote in 1994, during a period of hyperinflation following Ukraine's independence. This high-denomination note was introduced to facilitate transactions amid rapidly increasing prices.
The obverse features the Saint Volodymyr Monument in Kyiv, dedicated to Volodymyr the Great, with a trident shield to the left. The reverse displays the facade of the National Bank of Ukraine building, accompanied by a trident shield on the right. This banknote was demonetized on September 17, 1996, following the introduction of the hryvnia.
