About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 10 karbovantsiv banknote in 1991 as part of the country's first series of independent currency following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. This series, printed by the French company Imprimerie Spéciale de Fiduciaire (ISFB), was introduced into circulation on January 10, 1992, and was withdrawn on October 1, 1994.
The obverse of the banknote features an image of Lybid, the sister of Kyiv's legendary founders, within an ornamental rosette on the left side. The reverse depicts Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv within an oval frame. The banknote measures 105 x 53 mm and lacks serial numbers and official signatures. It has a "parquet" watermark consisting of a grid of light diagonal lines across the entire field.
