About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 100 karbovantsiv banknote in 1992 as part of the country's first post-independence currency series. This series was introduced to replace the Soviet ruble, with the karbovanets becoming the official currency on January 10, 1992.
The obverse of the banknote features a depiction of the founding Viking brothers Kyi, Shchek, and Khoryv, along with their sister Lybid, standing in the bow of a boat. The reverse showcases the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Kyiv. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd., the note measures 105 x 53 mm and lacks a security thread.
