The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 100-hryvnia banknote (Pick 126) in 2014, with circulation commencing on March 9, 2015. This release marked the beginning of replacing the 2003–2007 currency series, incorporating enhanced security features to improve cash circulation.
The front of the banknote features a self-portrait of Taras Shevchenko, painted in 1840–1841, along with a painter's palette and brushes. The back depicts the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
