About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 20,000 karbovantsiv banknote in 1996 as part of its effort to stabilize the national currency during a period of hyperinflation. This denomination was introduced to facilitate larger transactions and to address the rapid devaluation of smaller denominations.
The obverse of the banknote features the monument to Prince Volodymyr the Great holding a cross, located on Volodymyrska Hill in Kyiv.
