About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 200 karbovantsiv banknote on June 22, 1992. This note was part of the first series of banknotes introduced following Ukraine's declaration of independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
The obverse features the Memorial to the Founders of Kyiv, depicting the legendary brothers Kyi, Shchek, Khoryv, and their sister Lybid in a boat. The reverse showcases the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Kyiv, a significant architectural monument from the 11th century. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company without an imprint, the note measures 105 x 53 mm and was demonetized on March 15, 1995.
