About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 10,000 karbovantsiv banknote in 1996, as part of a series introduced between 1993 and 1996. This series was implemented to address hyperinflation and economic instability following Ukraine's independence in 1991. The karbovantsiv were replaced by the hryvnia in September 1996, at a rate of 100,000 karbovantsiv to 1 hryvnia.
The front of the banknote features the monument to Prince Volodymyr the Great holding a large cross, located on Volodymyrska Hill in Kyiv. The reverse depicts the facade of the National Bank of Ukraine building. The banknote measures 126 x 57 mm and has a watermark consisting of a zig-zag pattern of four bars.
