About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 10-hryven banknote in 1992, with the signature of Vadym Hetman, the bank's chairman at that time. Although dated 1992, this series was introduced into circulation on 2 September 1996, coinciding with Ukraine's currency reform that replaced the karbovanets with the hryvnia at a rate of 100,000 to 1.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Ivan Mazepa, who served as Hetman of the Zaporizhian Host from 1687 to 1708. The reverse depicts the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves. Measuring 135 x 70 mm, the note is printed on paper with a purple hue on a multicolor underprint. This specific variant, cataloged as Pick 106a, bears the signature of Vadym Hetman.
