About this banknote
The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) issued the 2 Krooni banknote in 2007 as part of the Second Estonian Kroon period (1992–2010). This series was introduced to enhance security features, including an updated watermark depicting Karl Ernst von Baer.
The obverse features a portrait of Karl Ernst von Baer, an Estonian Baltic German anthropologist, naturalist, and geographer (1792–1876). The reverse displays the main building of the University of Tartu, founded in 1632. The banknote measures 140 x 70 mm and was printed by Giesecke & Devrient.
