About this banknote
The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) issued the 25-kroon banknote in 2002 as part of the Second Estonian Kroon series, which circulated from 1992 until Estonia adopted the euro in 2011. This series was introduced to replace the Soviet ruble following Estonia's regained independence, with the kroon reintroduced on June 20, 1992.
The front of the 25-kroon note features a portrait of writer Anton Hansen Tammsaare, accompanied by a boggy landscape. The reverse depicts the barn and buildings at Tammsaare’s birthplace, North Tammsaare Farm in Vargamäe. The note includes a holographic stripe and a solid security thread with demetalized text "25EEK EESTI PANK." It measures 140 x 69 mm and was printed by Giesecke & Devrient.
