About this banknote
The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) issued the 5000 Mark banknote in 1918 as part of the 5% Short-Term Obligations series. This series was introduced on November 30, 1918, following the establishment of the Estonian mark, which replaced the German ostmark at par.
The 5000 Mark note is uniface, printed on one side only. It features the coat of arms of Estonia at the center. The note was printed by Elsner, Berlin, Germany, and was signed by E. Aule, J. Sihver, and L. Sepp. It was issued on April 15, 1924, and was demonetized on January 1, 1932.
