The Central Bank of Bolivia issued the 500 bolivianos banknote in 1945, following the enactment of the Law of December 20, 1945. This series was printed by Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited.

The obverse features a portrait of Antonio José de Sucre on the right and the national coat of arms on the left. The reverse depicts an oil well. The banknote measures 160 x 70 mm and is printed on paper. It was denominated as 500 bolivianos and also carried the equivalent value of 50 bolívares.
