About this banknote
The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 5-hryvnia banknote in 1997, with circulation commencing on September 1, 1998. This series was printed by the British firm De La Rue and retained the 1994 design with distinct printing variations.
The obverse features a portrait of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. The reverse depicts the Illinska Church in the village of Subotiv.
