About this banknote

The Ukrainian State issued the 2,000 hryvnia banknote in 1918. This denomination was introduced during the tenure of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky, who reestablished the karbovanets as Ukraine's primary currency in April 1918. The 2,000 hryvnia note was among the higher denominations produced during this period.

The obverse of the banknote features the inscription "УКРАЇНСЬКА ДЕРЖАВА" (Ukrainian State) and the denomination "ДВІ ТИСЯЧІ ГРИВЕНЬ" (Two Thousand Hryvnias). The reverse displays the national coat of arms in the underprint at the center. The note measures 222 x 133 mm and includes a watermark of alternating columns of crosses and circles.
