About this banknote
The Ukrainian People's Republic issued the 10 shahiv banknote in 1918. This denomination was part of the initial currency system established by the Central Council on March 1, 1918, introducing the hryvnia, subdivided into 100 shahs, to replace the karbovanets.
The obverse of the note features the national emblem at the center, with inscriptions "УКРАЇНСЬКА НАРОДНЯ РЕСПУБЛІКА" and "10 ШАГІВ 10." The reverse displays the emblem at the upper center, accompanied by the text "Ходить нарівні з дзвінкою монетою," indicating its equivalence to coinage. Printed on paper or cardboard, this note was eventually demonetized.
