The Central Bank of Armenia issued the 200 dram banknote in 1993 as part of the country's inaugural currency series following its independence. This series was introduced on November 22, 1993, with an exchange rate of 200 rubles to one dram.
The front of the banknote features the Church of St. Hripsime in Echmiadzin. The reverse displays ornamental designs, including a circular motif symbolizing the sun. The note measures 135 x 65 mm and was printed by Giesecke & Devrient without an imprint. It was demonetized on April 1, 2004.
