About this banknote

The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia issued the 50 dram banknote on November 23, 1998. This release was part of the second series of Armenian banknotes, introduced to enhance security features and design quality.

The front of the banknote features a portrait of composer Aram Khachaturian and the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The reverse depicts a scene from Khachaturian's "Gayaneh" ballet with Mount Ararat in the background.
