About this banknote
The Central Bank of Ceylon issued the 2 Rupees banknote in 1962 as part of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike portrait series. This series was introduced to honor Prime Minister Solomon West Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike, who served from 1956 until his assassination in 1959.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Prime Minister Bandaranaike on the right side. The reverse depicts a pavilion scene. The note measures approximately 114 × 59 mm and was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co.
