About this banknote
The Bank of Italy issued the 100,000 Lire banknote (Pick 117) in 1994, with subsequent printings through 1998. This series was introduced following the Ministerial Decree of May 6, 1994, and was signed by Governor Antonio Fazio and Cashier Mario Amici.
The obverse features a couple at the center and a portrait of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio on the right. The reverse displays a fruit basket and a castle. The banknote measures 156 x 70 mm and was printed by the Bank of Italy's printing office in Rome. It was demonetized on February 28, 2002.
