About this banknote
The Bank of Italy issued the 100,000 Lire banknote (Pick 110) in 1983, with subsequent issues in 1985, 1986, 1990, 1992, and 1993. This series was introduced to replace the previous 100,000 Lire note featuring Sandro Botticelli, which was demonetized on December 21, 1988.
The front of the banknote displays Caravaggio's painting "Buona ventura" at the center and a portrait of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio on the right. The back features Caravaggio's painting "Canestra di frutta" on the left. The banknote measures 156 x 70 mm and was demonetized on February 28, 2002.
