About this banknote
The Bank of Italy issued the 100,000 Lire banknote (Pick 110) on September 1, 1983, with signatures from Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Stevani. This series was introduced to replace the previous 100,000 Lire note featuring Sandro Botticelli, which had been in circulation since 1978.
The obverse of the banknote displays Caravaggio's painting "Buona ventura" at the center and a portrait of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio on the right. The reverse features Caravaggio's "Canestra di frutta" on the left. The banknote measures 156 x 70 mm and was demonetized on February 28, 2002.
