About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 1000 leva banknote in 1945. This series was introduced during the reign of King Simeon II, who ascended to the throne in 1943. The banknote was printed by Goznak, the Russian state printing house.
The obverse features the Bulgarian coat of arms on the left, with the denomination "1000" in a vignette on the right, and the text "ХИЛЯДА ЛЕВА" (one thousand leva) in the center. The reverse displays intricate guilloches with the text "BANQUE NATIONALE DE BULGARIE" and "ХИЛЯДА ЛЕВА" in the middle. The banknote measures 182 x 92 mm and has a rhombus pattern watermark. It was demonetized on May 12, 1952.
