The Banque de France issued the 1000 francs "Bleu et Rose" banknote between 1889 and 1926. This series was introduced on November 7, 1889, to meet the growing economic demands of the period.

The reverse depicts allegorical figures representing Commerce and Industry on the left, and Agriculture and Science on the right.
