The Banque de France issued the 1000 francs "Bleu et Rose" banknote between 1889 and 1926. This series was introduced on November 7, 1889, to meet the growing economic demands of the period.

The front of the banknote features Mercury on the left and a woman in a medallion on the right, with numerous allegorical figures in the border. The reverse depicts allegorical figures representing Commerce and Industry on the left, and Agriculture and Science on the right. The note measures 235 x 130 mm and was demonetized on October 19, 1933.
