About this banknote
The Government of Ceylon issued the 10 Rupees banknote in 1944, during the reign of King George VI. This series, introduced between 1941 and 1948, was part of the wartime currency measures implemented during World War II.
The obverse features a portrait of King George VI on the left, with the denomination "TEN RUPEES" centrally placed. The reverse depicts the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, a significant cultural landmark. The note measures 152 × 102 mm and was printed by the India Security Press in Nashik. It was demonetized on 31 December 1955.
