About this banknote
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issued this 10 rupee banknote on December 12, 2001, as part of the ongoing Heritage Series introduced in 1991. This series underwent several revisions, including the 1995 enhancement of latent image security features and the 2001 addition of wider metallic strips to higher denominations.
The obverse features a stone lion guardian statue, a prominent symbol in Sri Lankan culture. The reverse showcases the Presidential Secretariat building in Colombo, accompanied by depictions of local flora and fauna, including a painted stork.
