About this banknote
The Bank of Guatemala issued the 10 quetzales banknote (Pick 89) on June 16, 1995. This series was printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company, with a total of 22,000,000 notes produced.
The obverse features a portrait of General Miguel García Granados, President of Guatemala from 1871 to 1873, with the Tikal Temple in the background. A resplendent quetzal bird is depicted at the upper left. The reverse illustrates a session of the National Legislative Assembly from 1872. This banknote was demonetized on January 6, 1997.
