About this banknote
The State Bank of the Russian Empire issued the 1 ruble State Credit Note in 1843, marking the beginning of a new series of paper currency that replaced the depreciated Assignation rubles. This reform was part of the monetary policies implemented under Emperor Nicholas I to stabilize the Russian economy.
The obverse of the banknote features a crowned double-headed eagle within a shield, positioned at the top center, symbolizing the Russian Empire. The note measures 125 x 95 mm and was printed on paper. This particular series, cataloged as Pick A33, remained in circulation until 1865, when it was succeeded by new issues.
