About this banknote
The Assignation Bank of the Russian Empire issued the 50-ruble State Credit Note in 1843 as part of the State Credit Notes series (1843–1865). This series was introduced to replace earlier assignations, with the 50-ruble notes entering circulation on October 20, 1818, and continuing until 1843. The notes were officially withdrawn from circulation on January 1, 1849.
The front of the 50-ruble note features a crowned double-headed eagle within an ornate frame at the top center. The note measures 192 x 109 mm and is printed on paper with a watermark. It was signed by Manager Count Khovansky and produced by the Assignation Bank's printing offices in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
