About this banknote

The Central Bank of Venezuela issued the 5,000 bolívares banknote on August 18, 2016. This release was part of a series introduced to address the country's escalating inflation.

The front of the note features a portrait of Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi. The reverse side depicts two hawksbill turtles and the Macanao Mountains within Laguna de la Restinga National Park.
