About this banknote
The 500 Mark banknote was issued by the Republic of Estonia in 1921 as part of the Pangatäht series during the period of Treasury and Bank Notes from 1918 to 1923. This series was introduced to establish a stable national currency following Estonia's declaration of independence in 1918.
The front of the note features an ornamental design in green and gray, with the watermark "EV" representing "Eesti Vabariik" (Republic of Estonia). Measuring 171 x 96 mm, the banknote was printed by Tilgmann Lithography in Helsinki, Finland, on paper sourced from Tervakoski, Finland. A total of 1,005,000 pieces were produced, each signed by Eduard Aule and Johan Sihver.
