About this banknote
The Treasury of Estonia issued the Treasury Notes of 1920–1921 series, with the 500 Mark note being released in 1920. This series was introduced following Estonia's declaration of independence on February 24, 1918, as the country established its financial independence and identity.
The front side of the 1920 First Issue 500 Mark note is printed in black on a gray underprint. This note is cataloged with the Pick number 34. A notable technical detail of this note is that it was part of Estonia's first attempts to create a stable currency system following its separation from the Russian Empire.
