About this banknote
The Bank of Italy issued the 500 lire banknote (Pick 69) on March 31, 1943. This issuance was authorized by the Ministerial Decree of March 30, 1943, during the reign of King Vittorio Emanuele III.
The obverse features allegorical figures representing Law and Justice, with the crowned coat of arms of the House of Savoy at the top center. The reverse depicts the personification of Credit, accompanied by symbolic female figures and putti. The banknote measures 191 x 111 mm and was printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome.
