About this banknote
The Italian Ministry of the Treasury issued the 500 Lire banknote (Pick 94) on February 14, 1974. This series was introduced to replace the previous 500 Lire notes and remained in circulation until its demonetization on February 28, 1986.
The front of the banknote features the winged head of Mercury on the right side. The back displays allegorical figures on the left. The watermark consists of a star in a wreath. The note measures 114 x 57 mm and was printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome.
