About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 50 Leva Zlato banknote in 1916 during the reign of King Ferdinand I. This series was introduced to provide higher denomination currency during World War I, reflecting the economic demands of the period.
The obverse features the Bulgarian coat of arms at the top center, with the denomination "ПЕТДЕСЕТЪ ЛЕВА ЗЛАТО" (Fifty Leva Gold) prominently displayed. The reverse showcases the coat of arms encircled by ornate vignettes. Printed by the Reichsdruckerei in Berlin, Germany, the note measures 170 × 110 mm and was demonetized on May 5, 1924.
