About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 50 kwacha banknote (Pick 33) between 1989 and 1991. This series was introduced during the tenure of President Kenneth Kaunda, who served from 1964 to 1991. The banknote was signed by Governors Francis X. Nkhoma (1987–1989) and Jacques A. Bussieres (1990–1992).
The obverse features President Kenneth Kaunda, an African fish eagle, and a Pierid butterfly. The reverse displays the Freedom Statue in Lusaka, a zebra head, and workers in a copper mill in the Copperbelt region. Measuring 155 x 78 mm, the note was demonetized on July 1, 2013.
