The Banque de France issued the 50 francs "Bleu et Rose" banknote from 1889 to 1927. This series was introduced on May 1, 1889, with the first signatures of E. Bertin and Billotte. The 1915 issuance featured the signatures of J. Laferrière and E. Picard, used between July 16, 1907, and November 8, 1919.

The front of the banknote displays allegorical figures of women on the left and right, two small angels above, and caduceus symbols at each corner. Five women in medallions are centered at the top. The design is blue on a lilac underprint. The banknote measures 123 x 178 mm.
