About this banknote
The Ukrainian People's Republic issued the 5-hryvnia banknote in 1919 during the Directorate's governance. This note was printed in Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk) and was the only state-sanctioned banknote produced in the territory of the West Ukrainian People's Republic.
The obverse features a large trident (tryzub) on the left side, enclosed within a frame of small circles, with the text "РОЗМІННИЙ ЗНАК / ДЕРЖАВНОЇ СКАРБНИЦІ / У.Н.Р." and the denomination on the right. The reverse includes a legal notice, the denomination, and symbols of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Ukrainian State. Notably, some notes contain a typographical error, spelling "ПЯТЬ ГИВЕНЬ" instead of "ПЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ."
