About this banknote
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued the 5-dollar banknote in 1994, as part of the 1980-1994 "Chiremba Rocks" series. This series was introduced to replace the Rhodesian dollar following Zimbabwe's independence in 1980. The 1994 issue features the signature of Leonard Ladislas Tsumba, who served as Governor of the Reserve Bank from 1993 to 2003.
The obverse of the banknote displays a zebra on the left and the Chiremba Balancing Rocks in Epworth near Harare on the right. The reverse depicts a village scene with two women preparing food near huts and a farm. The watermark is a Zimbabwe Bird in a ¾ profile with a long neck. The note measures 140 x 72 mm and is printed on paper.
