About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 20,000 kwacha banknote in 2011 as part of the 2003–2011 series. This series was introduced to address the need for higher denomination notes due to inflationary pressures in the country.
The front of the note features an African fish eagle perched on a tree branch, accompanied by stylized Black Lechwe and Acacia trees. The reverse side displays a Black Lechwe antelope, workers in a copper mine, and the Freedom Statue, also known as the "Chain Breaker," located in Lusaka. This banknote measures 145 x 70 mm and was printed by Giesecke & Devrient in 2011.
