About this banknote
The Bank of Mexico issued the 200 pesos banknote (Pick 109d) on April 23, 1999, as part of Series D, which was introduced in 1996. This series omitted the word "nuevos" from the currency name and removed the phrase "pagará a la vista al portador" from the banknotes.
The obverse features a portrait of Juana Inés de la Cruz, also known as Juana de Asbaje y Ramírez de Santillana, accompanied by images of an inkwell, quills, and books. The reverse depicts the Temple of San Jerónimo. The banknote measures 155 x 65 mm and includes a watermark of Juana de Asbaje.
