About this banknote
The Norges Bank issued the 200-krone banknote (Pick 50) in 1994 as part of the seventh series of Norwegian banknotes. In 2002, this note was upgraded to include enhanced security features, notably a holographic foil stripe, to combat counterfeiting.
The obverse of the 200-krone note features a portrait of physicist Kristian Birkeland, with the northern lights and constellations such as Ursa Minor and the Big Dipper in the background.
