About this banknote
The Norges Bank issued the 50-krone banknote in 2011 as part of the 1994–1996 series. This series was introduced to enhance the security features of Norwegian currency and to update the designs to reflect national heritage.
The front of the 50-krone note features a portrait of Peter Christen Asbjørnsen, a renowned Norwegian writer and collector of folktales. The back depicts water lilies and a dragonfly, motifs inspired by Asbjørnsen's story "A Summer's Night in Krogskogen."
