About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 20 Leva Zlatni banknote in 1917. This series was introduced during the reign of King Ferdinand I, who ruled from 1887 to 1918. The banknote was printed by Giesecke & Devrient in Leipzig, Germany, with a total production of 10,000,000 notes.
The obverse features the text "ДВАДЕСЕТЪ ЛЕВА ЗЛАТНИ" (twenty gold levs) in the center, with the Bulgarian National Bank's name and a promise to pay the bearer. The reverse displays the numeral "20" surrounded by guilloches. The watermark consists of the initials "БНБ" (BNB) within touching ellipses. This banknote was demonetized on May 5, 1924.
