About this banknote
The Banco de la Nación Argentina issued the 20 centavos banknote in 1891, under the authorization of Law No. 2707 dated August 21, 1890. This series was introduced to standardize the national currency following the establishment of the peso moneda nacional in 1881.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Lieutenant General Bartolomé Mitre on the left and the national coat of arms on the right, printed in black on a green underprint. The reverse displays a steer head at the center, with the denomination and issuing authority inscribed. The note was printed by Compañía Sud-Americana de Billetes de Banco in Buenos Aires. Various signature combinations exist, including those of Roca & Casares, Cuyar & Cárdenas, Santamarina & Achával, and Areco & Molina.
