About this banknote
The Compulsory Consortium of Issuing Institutions (Consorzio obbligatorio degli istituti di emissione) issued the 2 Lire banknote under the law of April 30, 1874. This consortium included the Banca Nazionale nel Regno d'Italia, Banca Nazionale Toscana, Banca Toscana di Credito, Banca Romana, Banco di Sicilia, and Banco di Napoli. The banknote was demonetized on April 12, 1888.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Italia Turrita facing right within a decorated circle on the left, with the denomination "2" inside a similar circle on the right. The back displays legal text encircled in dark green on the left and in white on the right, with the denomination "Due Lire" and the number "2" repeated within a dark green decoration connecting all elements. The note measures 79 x 45 mm and was printed by the Officina Carte Valori di Roma - San Teodoro.
