About this banknote
The Central Bank of Venezuela (Banco Central de Venezuela) issued the 2 bolívares banknote on March 20, 2007, as part of the Bolívar Fuerte currency system introduced in 2008. This series aimed to simplify transactions by redenominating the currency at a rate of 1,000 old bolívares to 1 Bolívar Fuerte.
The obverse features a portrait of Francisco de Miranda, a Venezuelan military leader and revolutionary, along with Venezuelan flags and sailing ships. The reverse depicts two Amazon River dolphins (Inia geoffrensis), the gusano flor (worm flower), and the Médanos de Coro National Park. The banknote measures 156 x 69 mm and was printed by the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela.
