About this banknote
The Eesti Vabariik (Republic of Estonia) issued the 1000 Mark Treasury Note in 1921 as part of the Treasury Notes of 1920–1921 series. This issuance followed Estonia's declaration of independence in 1918, aiming to establish a national currency system after separating from the Russian ruble.
The front side of the note features a central motif depicting a figure with a child, surrounded by warriors holding shields. The reverse side includes ornate floral patterns and the denomination "TUHAT MARKA" inscribed prominently. This note is cataloged as Pick 50a and was part of Estonia's early efforts to stabilize its economy through a distinct national currency.
