About this banknote

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issued the 100 rupees banknote (Pick 125d) on February 4, 2015. This release was part of the 2010 series, which introduced new designs and security features to the nation's currency.

The front of the note features the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant at the center, with the Laxapana waterfall above it. To the right is the Sri Lankan Orange-billed Babbler (Turdoides rufescens), and to the left is the Autumn Leaf butterfly (Doleschallia bisaltidae). The reverse, oriented vertically, depicts a Mridangam drummer and a Bharatanatyam dancer, along with a Naga guard stone (muragala) and a stylized Dvithva liya vela floral motif. The note measures 138 x 67 mm and was printed by De La Rue.
